Happy Spring!

Spring is in the air, Grocery Girl Groupies! Does your diet need a little spicing up? One of the best ways to eat healthy is to choose foods that are in season. Locally grown produce will be the freshest and tastiest since it doesn’t have to travel as far so look for local produce at your neighborhood supermarket or visit a nearby Farmers Market. Plus, vegetables and fruits have many health benefits. For example, they have plant compounds called phytochemicals (like antioxidants) which research shows can play an important role in preventing many types of diseases.

Our 20th annual crawfish boil yes, 20th, we started while in junior high will be held again at the historic West Alabama Ice House on Saturday, April 27 from 1:00 to 7:00.  There will be plenty of crawfish freshly arrived from south Louisiana, gumbo, red beans & rice, inexpensive beer, and plenty of people, especially if the weather is halfway nice.

If you’ve been before, you know how popular it is; and, never more so than during the last few years.  It’s usually a good idea to get there early, so that you can park within a couple blocks of the Ice House.

We will be helping the local Society of St. Vincent de Paul again this year, a charity dedicated to aiding the downtrodden.  We ask all of our guests to be generous in helping us help them.  The food we provide is somewhat in exchange for your donation; that's actually true for the crawfish.  No donation, no crawfish.  The Society can use non-perishable foods, baby food, diapers, cleaning supplies, and detergent.  Check their website for current needs.  Monetary gifts will also be accepted

Hope that you can make it.

Hosts – Mike Riccetti, Gene Riccetti, Hank Fuselier, Julien DuPont, Dan Berggren, Michael Wells, David Hinsley, Pat Sullivan, Paul Heyburn, Brian Hall, Kent Wuensche, Mike Shirley, Christian Frisch & Cary Kaufman
