Subject: Annual Big Crawfish Boil - Saturday, May 19 - West Alabama Ice House

Our 19th annual crawfish boil will be held again at the historic West Alabama Ice House on Saturday, May 19 from 1:00 to 7:00.  There will be plenty of crawfish freshly arrived from south Louisiana, gumbo, red beans & rice, inexpensive beer, and plenty of people, especially if the weather is halfway nice.

If you've been before, you know how popular it is; and, never more so than during the last few years.  It's usually a good idea to get there early, so that you can park within a couple blocks of the Ice House.

We will be helping the local Society of St. Vincent de Paul again this year, a charity dedicated to aiding the downtrodden.  We ask all of our guests to be generous in helping us help them.  The food we provide is somewhat in exchange for your donation, after all.  The current needs of the Society include: non-perishable foods, baby food, diapers, cleaning supplies, and detergent.  Monetary gifts will also be accepted.

Hope that you can make it.

HostsMike Riccetti, Gene Riccetti, Hank Fuselier, Julien DuPont, Dan Berggren, Michael Wells, David Hinsley, Pat Sullivan, Paul Heyburn, Brian Hall, Kent Wuensche, Mike Shirley, Christian Frisch & Cary Kaufman

The Marty, A Montrose Art Party

Skittles and I will be there early at the opening this Friday - from 6-7. This is one of my favorite charity art events, please join us!

Benefiting the ALH "Healing Art" Program
May 4, 2012 - May 11, 2012
MAIN GALLERY AND PROJECT GALLERY
Opening reception May 4, 2012 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM

Art League Houston is excited to invite the public to our annual fundraising event The Marty: A Montrose Art Party, on Friday, May 4, from 6:00 - 9:00 PM, to benefit Art League Houstons Healing Art program, which provides free art instruction and supplies to adults living with serious illness and physical disabilities.  Entry to the event is free and open to the public.

This year's theme is the 1980s so get ready to boogie along with the DJ to your favorite 80s tunes, while delighting in savory treats and delicious desserts by Butter & Co. and tasty beverages from Saint Arnold Brewing Company, Tito's Handmade Vodka and Inversion Coffee House. An 80s-style photo-booth created by popular Houston Street artist Daniel Anguilu will be on-site, equipped with party props supplied by Arnies Warehouse, ready for you and your friends to have fun! 80s-themed costumes are encouraged.

The event will feature a selection of artwork for sale by Healing Art students, and Art League Houstons Studio School students in the main and project galleries, as well as an exciting silent auction with items such as an iPad, Art League Art Socials and artwork by Daniel Anguilu up for grabs. A portion of the artwork and concession proceeds will help support Art League Houston's Healing Art program.

Please join us in supporting this unique and valuable program, while enjoying the opportunity to purchase amazing artwork by amazing artists at affordable prices!

About Art League Houston's Healing Art Program

In 1990, Art League Houston founded its free Healing Art program for adults living with HIV+/AIDS. In 1995, ALH provided additional Healing Art classes to serve adults living with other severe illnesses including cancer, multiple sclerosis, fibromyalgia, and physical disabilities. The ALH Healing Art program is the only one of its kind for adults in Houston, outside of hospital or clinical settings. ALH Healing Art classes are offered free of charge. ALH teaching artists Kermit Eisenhut and Emily Sloan instruct Healing Art students in painting, collage, drawing, and mixed media. In addition, ALH provides Healing Art students with opportunities to exhibit and sell their art each year.
