Happy hour for the Houston Croquet Classic

We will be at Cowboy Moth at HOB, but here is a way to make your Fat Tuesday meaningful - party for a cause! LOL
To increase awareness of the upcoming Houston Croquet Classic that benefits the Sunshine Kids Foundation, we are having a happy hour at Marfreless from 6:00 to 8:00 or so on Tuesday, February 16. It also happens to be Mardi Gras, and an additional excuse to grab a cocktail or two. We will be collecting donations, encouraging registration for Croquet, and we might even have a raffle prize.

The annual Houston Croquet Classic will be held on Saturday, March 13 at Strake Jesuit College Preparatory. It's centered around a competitive, if typically poorly played croquet tournament complemented with an expansive silent auction, a fajita lunch, live music (The Fondue Monks), and a VERY open bar. If you have been before, you know that it is a lot of fun, and it also raises money for an exemplary local charity.

Note from Lori: Marfreless is the bar in the parking lot behind the River Oaks Theatre on West Gray. there is a white outdoor staircase and a blue door. That is the infamous Marfreless. The coolest bars are hidden!

Team in Training - A beer or a glass of wine?

On June 6th, 2010 I will be running the San Diego Half Marathon as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training program. Not only to help find a cure, but also for the personal challenge of completing a half marathon. This is quite a challenge for me at this stage in the game, but I am fortunate for my health and feel this is something I should do for those that cannot.

My goal is to raise $2,900 by May 20th. I would greatly appreciate your support of any amount. Every donation adds up and I am fortunate to have so many friends willing to support this effort. I ask that you help in a small way.

FUN WITH DRINKING, DONATIONS AND MATH - a $5 beer or a $10 glass of wine
I have 390 friends on my email list:
If everyone donated just $5
(as if you bought me a beer) we would raise $1,950. If everyone donated $10 (buy me a glass of wine?) we would raise $3,900!

Many of you have bought me a drink (or many) in the past, but this one is tax deductible!

This year I am competing I have pledged to train on the behalf of 7 year old Jack (who is currently in remission!) to help raise money for leukemia, Hodgkin and non-Hodgkin lymphoma, and melanoma research and patient services programs.

To Contribute please go to: http://pages.teamintraining.org/txg/rnr10/hautechakalaka

All contributions are 100% tax deductible, I thank you so much for all of you that support so much of the things I do.
