Mardi Gras Galveston Half & Full Marathon

FRIENDS - If you were not able to get in Houston and want to party (sort of) your way through December, there is a new Mardi Gras Full and Half Marathon in Galveston - February 20th! Skittles friends through Tri On The Run are managing it so should be a great event!

We can do Saturday Group training runs together and I have some good, long routes I got from HFit and TNT that we can run once we start getting up in mileage.

I know some of you are faster than others - I am super slow so if you are a beginner no worries. If you just want to give it a try in the beginning to see how it goes - feel free! I just do not want to run in one of those Houston Fit monster groups, and I do not want to raise any money this time. I just want some folks to run with!

Contact me if you want to see the training schedule before you decide and I will send it to you.
We will not start training until early October so you have time if you want to start building up to 3 now (those that are not already.) If you have friends that want to do it they are welcome to do the training with us!

Financial Aid and For-Profit Schools

The government is proposing to limit financial aid to certain colleges and programs, which would essentially crush the Art Institute and the culinary and art students it educates. Taking away their choice to attend our art college, as if this field is not as important as others. We were not all inclined to be businessmen, nurses or lawyers, some of us are right brained. The Art Institute of Houston has a 91.1% rate of student who find jobs in their field within 6 months of graduation.

Whatever your opinion, please take the time to learn more and express your opinion to the government, if you so wish. I appreciate it.

Please visit http://www.higheredactioncenter.com to find out more.

Celebrate 7 years of free Ringwalds shows, Fri. Aug. 6

Hi Kids!

Come to the Continental Club this Friday, Aug. 6 to help the Ringwalds celebrate 7 years of free early shows AND to honor 80's hair with the First and Last Annual Tribute to 80's Hair Night.   Pony up the $3 for a can of aqua net and a cheap comb and tease your hair into a  awesome 80's do, then come by the stage so the Ringwalds can approve of your hairsytle.  If it's 80's enough, then you receive drink specials at the bar!

Also, Carrie Ringwald will demonstrate how to do it right with a live demo of how a mullet is done.  A genuine 80's before and after!

See you there.
