PEVETO Gallery - Tonight Greg Miller 6-8pm

http://www.peveto.org/

PEVETO is honored to welcome GREG MILLER</gmillerstudio.com/> for his first solo exhibition in Texas entitled, OVER TIME. Miller's work is steeped in mid-20th century popular culture including Advertising, Literature, Film and Street Graffiti; if you are a fan of Pop-Art, you are automatically a fan of Greg Miller. These 12 new works are rich constructions on canvas that seem to be lifted from the streets of Hometown, America - decades of accumulated, overlaid advertisements and graffiti that populate the sides of time-worn buildings. The physicality of the paintings, something between painting and sculpture, gives the viewer an archaic and nostalgic record of time.

"Labeled a neo-pop and post-pop artist by such critics as Donald Kuspit and Peter Frank, Miller does indeed draw from the pop-culture imagery that saturated American consciousness during the 1950s and 1960s. It was a time during which advertising and text became indelibly encrypted into our experiences of everyday life". - Artweek.LA

A special exhibition catalogue with an interview between Greg Miller and Los Angeles arts writer, Peter Frank is available. The interview reveals Miller's readiness as a cultural participant and as a contemporary storyteller.

Greg Miller received his Masters of Arts from San José State University and Bachelors of Arts from San Francisco Art Institute and has been exhibiting since 1975. His work has been collected by Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Frederick R. Weisman Museum of Art, Contemporary Art Center in New Orleans, San José Museum of Art, and the Kemper Museum of Art; private collections include the Charles Saatchi Collection, Playboy Enterprises, Sharon Stone, Toby Maguire, John Paul, Eloise DeJoria, Kyle Ransford and Jessica Alba.

Casting Mexican American families for docuseries

My friend Claresa is casting this - hoping for a family in Texas! (she is based in New York.) If your family qualifies please contact her. Feel free to forward.

NOW CASTING … MEXICAN-AMERICAN FAMILIES
WHO LEAD FASCINATING, EXCITING AND FULFILLING LIVES!
An award-winning production company is searching for families of Mexican-American heritage (who still follow many Mexican traditions) to participate in a docuseries for a well-known cable network. The family must currently live and work in the U.S. and be comfortable sharing their story on-camera. Whether you've just immigrated from Mexico … or your family has been established in the U.S. for several generations, we'd love to learn about the characters in your family and what you're all about!

Please email MexicanAmericanCasting@gmail.com the following to be considered:
- Name;
- Location (City, State);
- Contact info (email, phone numbers);
- Educational background;
- Number of children, if any, and their ages;
- What you do for work;
- What you do for fun;
- Examples of any wild, unusual or amusing Mexican traditions in
your family;
- Brief history of why your family decided to immigrate to the U.S.;
- A few recent photos of you and your family.
The more insight you can give us, the better we're able to get to know you!

Thank you for your time… We look forward to hearing from you.
